Last ever Dandy shop!

DandyA tiny newsagents in Scotland has launched a pop up shop to service demand for the final ever printed edition of the Dandy. The pop up space is opening up in the Braehead Centre, near Glasglow.

Although some people are selling their copies on eBay for £50, newsagent Des Barr is delighted to be selling the final edition for the list price of £3.99 from his pop up – and has sold over 10,000 copies.

Des said: “I’m the only shop in the country that has copies of the last ever Dandy for sale. The response has been amazing. We’ve had orders from all over the world, including Canada, America, Germany, Australia and New Zealand.”

The last issue of the comic – first published 75 years ago – sold out up and down the country soon after it hit the shelves last Tuesday.

Des, who runs Sinclair Barr Newsagents in Paisley, persuaded publishers DC Thomson to do an extra print run just for him as he saw demand rocket on his website and at his shop in Braehead. He said: “I’ve had staff in our shop doing a nightshift, making sure copies of the comic are mailed to everyone who has put in an order.”
