A 50,000 sq ft playground has been transformed by Bankside Open Spaces Trust (BOST) into a multi-sports venue including running track, beach volleyball, boxing ring among other facilities. It has turned an under used grey expanse of concrete into a greener more usable community space.
The playground in Southwark will be hosting a pop up mini Olympics every day until the beginning of the real games and even had it’s own opening ceremony with a children’s parade carrying the BOST Olympic flower flame.
“Transforming Marlborough Playground has been a long-time mission for us and now it is a reality,” says Tim Wood, chairman of Bankside Open Spaces Trust.
“We have consulted heavily with the local community over the last few years, and results have shown that there is both a huge need and appetite for this project.”
