Chepstow creates

Showcasing local talent, a pop up shop is opening in Chepstow at the end of the month. The scheme run by a social enterprise group will see a vacant shop in Bank Street become a arts and crafts mecca selling high quality wares.

Made up of local residents Chepstow Creates aim to bring the town centre back to life by increasing footfall and trade.

Over 25 people have agreed to take part in the scheme to fill up 10 empty shops, one of whom being children’s writer and illustrator Caroline Downey. Signed copies of her series “Real Dragon Tales” will be sold during the event.

A loan of £5,000 has been awarded by Monmouthshire Council and the artists will pay a rental fee and commission on sales to offset running costs.
